Metaphysics.

Noun – 

the branch of philosophy that deals with the first principles of things, including abstract concepts such as being, knowing, substance, cause, identity, time, and space

Yes that’s what your firm needs…more philosophers.

Seriously though we are entering the single biggest confluence of business and tech change waves I have seen in my life time. The smart folks at the World Economic Forum/Davos refer to the 4th Industrial Revolution. 

It will be one of the most intensive period of creative destruction we have seen. It will be like the upheaval of the 3rd Industrial Revolution but it will happen in 6 years not 6 decades.

None of this gets fixed, managed, understood by looking at the surface of things. The metaphysics of all this is where you thrive or fail to survive.

Security architecture is a lynch pin in cyber not your tools, activity, talent. 

Model design, IT factory structure, information architecture, human capital optimization approach, process design and control, change management model (not activity, the model) are all second level, second or third derivative items below the surface that must be managed explicitly.  That’s metaphysics. 

The Mosaic future of war fighting is a metaphysical model.

Understanding and leveraging culture is a swamp of buzzwords, excuses, wasted opportunity, fog and confusion. It is a relatively simple thing for a firm if thought through from a metaphysical level.

The platforms/approaches that the next advances in AI/Big Data, Edge Compute, 5G, Cloud, XR (AR, VR, MR and BR – yes there’s a BR) and Security will rapidly enable what I call the 8 P’s.  

Proactive, Preventative, Personalized, Permissioned, Process Performant, Precise, Pattern Matched and Predictive. 

That will drive competitively superior cost structure, customer engagement/proposition and customer lifecycle value. I don’t care what business you are in, that coupled with agility and evolutionary intelligence wins.

Which healthcare facility do you want to go to… the 8P’s or the old one? Which stadium, city, factory, airport, entertainment complex, next gen bank/FS partner, educational space, service partner? Which one do you want to lead? Invest in?
